Tamale Metropolitan Assembly to rehabilitate dilapidated schools

Tamale, Aug. 20, GNA - The Tamale Metropolitan Assembly would soon undertake a project to rehabilitate all dilapidated schools to enhance quality teaching and learning.

The Assembly has already made provision in its budget for this year, a counterpart funding of the project with assistance from the European Union under its Micro-Project.

Mr. Mohammed Amin Adam, Tamale Metropolitan Chief Executive, announced this during a courtesy call on the Chief of Hausa Zongo, Yahaya Awudu at his palace in Tamale.

He assured the chief and the people that the assembly would not discriminate in the provision of development projects in the area. Mr Adam said the assembly's recent exercise to impound strayed animals was to rid the city of road accidents and appealed to the residents to co-operate.

Chief Awudu commended the assembly in its efforts to develop the metropolis and pledged to assist.

Mr. Adam earlier visited the Mazeima Leather Processing Factory and interacted with the artisans to address some of their problems. The factory processes animal hide into fine leather used for the production of sandals, bags and other artifacts. Mr. Adam assured the artisans that the assembly would re-locate them to a suitable place to enhance their operations.
