Tafo Town Council now dysfunctional

Lack of office accommodation has rendered the Tafo Town Council in Kumasi dysfunctional, Mr Ibrahim Munah, Assemblyman for Tafo-Adompom has told the Ghana News Agency (GNA).

He said the situation had impeded the effective coordination and monitoring of development programmes in the area.

The Council, he added, had not operated for three years and described the situation as worrying.

As one of the sub-structures of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), its role is not only limited to assisting in revenue collection and community education, but mobilizing the people for development.

Mr Munah, therefore, appealed to the Assembly to act quickly to address the problem to enable the Council to get to work.

Mrs Victoria Adomako, Administrator of the Tafo Sub-Metropolitan Area, said everything must be done to make it operational.

She expressed confidence that the new Mayor, Mr Kojo Bonsu, would give priority to the matter.
