TMA to demolish unauthorised structures by next week

Tema, Jan 19, GNA -- Tema Municipality the Tema Municipal Assembly TMA has earmarked some unauthorised structures to be demolished as part of efforts to maintain orderly development in the municipality.

It has therefore, issued a seven-day ultimatum to occupants of the structures along roads to move.

Areas affected included Meridian Hotel, Community Four near Joe Manu Junction, Community One Site 18, opposite Irani Brothers and Ashaiman Official Town.

The Traffic and Sanitation Taskforce Co-ordinator, Mr Samuel Akoto who took newsmen round those areas, said the assembly has put in place a Traffic and Sanitation Task Force to clean up the filth in the municipality.

It was learnt that occupants of the Meridian Harbour Junction, who are mostly Ivorians and have occupied the area for about 15 months now, have raised structures that are allegedly being used for criminal activities, including prostitution. 19 Jan 04
