TMA extends demolishing exercise to its Communities

Tema, April 23, GNA -- A month after the Tema Municipal Assembly started its exercise to get rid of hawkers and unauthorised structures at its central business centre, it has now extended it to the various communities to get rid of illegal structures. On Thursday, it was the turn of Community Seven and Site One of Community One. As early as 0800 hours, over 50 of those structures were brought down.

Mr Frank Asante, the Public Relations Officer of the assembly, said the exercise was part of the assembly's exercise to rid the city of unsightly structures.

He said residents at Site One were encroaching on the Padmore School compound whiles drug peddlers invade the premises even during school hours.

In the case of Community Seven the people have created markets within the community.
