TMA Donates to Police, Muslims

Tema, Aug 24, GNA – The Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) on Wednesday donated office equipment valued at GHC 8,000 to the Tema Regional Police Command.

The items, which are to be used by the Public Relations (PR) Unit, include a computer set, a photocopier, printer and an Uninterrupted Power Supply unit.

Mr Kempes Ofosuware, Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, (MCE) said the donation was part of the Assembly’s social commitment to the Security Services.

He said the Assembly acted upon a request made by the PR unit of the Tema Police to provide them with office equipment and expressed the hope that the items would be used towards effective policing in the Metropolis.

The MCE announced that a two-unit office was being constructed for personnel of the Tema Manhean Police Post.

Chief Inspector Olivia Turkson, Police Public Relations Officer of the Unit, who received the items, thanked the MCE for the gesture and assured the public that the equipment would be used for the purpose for which they were provided.

In a another development, the TMA donated food items valued at GHC19,000 to the Moslem Community in Tema towards their Annual Eid ul Fitr, which would be marked at the end of the month. The festival is celebrated at the end of a 30 day dawn to sunset fasting, aimed at restoring the partakers’ best human composition.

The items include 150 bags of rice, 10 bags of sugar, 38 cartons of oil, and assorted items.

Alhaji Adam Abubakar, Tema Metro Chief Imam, who received the items on behalf of the Community, thanked the Assembly for the gesture.
