Swedish Ambassador calls on Communication Minister

Mr Svante Klander, Sweden Ambassador to Ghana on Thursday paid a courtesy call on Dr Omane Boamah, Minister of Communication.

His visit was to familiarize himself with the Minister and also invite him to the Mobile Broadband World conference which would be hosted in Ghana on the 17-18 of April this year by Ericsson Ghana Limited.

He said the conference will address mobile broadband and telecom issues and also build the capacity of the Ghanaian in the ICT sector.

He said ICT was what Ghanaians were looking forward to upgrade their knowledge in and urged the Ministry to support the sector.

Dr Boamah said Sweden and Ghana have had long standing relations and that this would also deepen the cooperation of the two countries.

He said Ghana is seeing a positive progress in the ICT sector and called on more actors to support the telecom industry.

Dr Boamah expressed the hope that the conference will showcase what ICT and Mobile broadband can do.

He said the NCA under the Ministry of Communications would make provision licenses to companies in the telecom sector who would want to operate to promote competition.
