Support educational programmes- Ahyiayem citizens told

Ahyiayem (B/A) Aug. 7, GNA - Mr. Nicholas Danso Abiam, Director of Ghana Link Network, at the weekend donated GH¢ 5000 at a fund raising rally in support of a Junior High School project at Ahyiayem in Nkoranza South District of Brong Ahafo. Mr. Abeam, a citizen of the town, said his gesture was due to the fact that "education is the key to the development of any area" and it was incumbent on individuals to support educational programmes and activities to move the country forward. He commended the people for taking the initiative and for self-financing the project. He promised to provide the school with computers to enable the students gain knowledge in Information Communication and Technology (ICT).

The director urged the youth to unite and support the opinion leaders to develop the community. Madam Mary Alamisi, Assembly Member, announced that GH¢ 3000 had been targeted for the construction of the three-classroom block project, which she said was being funded through contributions of three Ghana cedis per married couple and communal labour. She appealed to the district assembly to assist the community with 10 packets of roofing sheets and 100 bags of cement. Mr. Douglas Kwasi Amisare, unit committee chairman, called on non-resident citizens to contribute to the successful execution of the project. Nana Kwabena Asare, chief of the town, expressed gratitude to Mr. Abeam and appealed to other citizens to emulate him. 7 Aug. 09
