Sunyani MCE Urges Youth to Lead Development Agenda

The Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive,(MCE) Hon.Kwame Awuah Twumasi, has called on Ghanaian youth to lead the African Develoment Agenda, beginning from the jubilee year.He said the Ghanaian youth has all the qualities needed to influence the drive towards a totally developed Africa.

"The youth of today are brilliant and healthy and it would be advantageous if they resolve to assist in the implementation of development programmes and policies", he said.

Hon.Twumasi-Awuah pointed out that "if the youth of Africa are to put their skills and knowledge at the disposal of their respective nations, the continent would experience great transformation". He was speaking to Space FM in an interview in connection the nation's golden jubilee celebrations under the theme, "Championing African Excellence".

He commended the youth for their contributions towards the development of democracy and urged them to bear in mind that what ever they do today, the nation would review their performance by the time Ghana celebrates 100 years.

The Municipal Chief Executive noted that the nation has witnessed many development contributions by the youth over the past 50 years and said "no nation can move ahead without the contributions of the youth".

Hon. Twumasi-Awuah expressed regret about laziness among the youth and charged them to be responsible so that the nation could rely on them for development.

He noted that the nation is investing in the youth to take over from the present crop of leaders and that " it is the responsibility of the youth to take up the challenge to lead the country in the next fifty years".

The MCE reiterated government's comitment to ensure the total development of the Ghanaian youth to enble them contribute meaningfully to national development and urged them to take advantage of all youth related programmes.

He mentioned the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) as one of government's policies at empowering the Ghanaian youth.He therefore urged the youth to take advantage of the NYEP and contribute the national development.
