Suhum, July 13, GNA - The staff of the Suhum Government Hospital had purchased a 33-seater Benz bus from the pooling of extra-duty allowance of the staff to cater for their welfare.

The Deputy Eastern Regional Director of the Ghana Health Service, Dr Emmanuel Tenkorang, inaugurated the 180-million-cedi vehicle, at Suhum on Saturday.

He commended the staff for their initiative and said it was worthy of emulation by their colleagues in the region. Dr Tenkorang advised the staff to adopt to maintain the bus to prolong the lifespan.

According to the Hospital's Administrator, Mr. Julius Kuusaalesuo the staff decided to pool their extra-duty allowance for two months to raise the amount for the bus.

He said the hospital currently had only one "bone-shaker" vehicle, which could not serve the interest of the staff due to its deplorable condition.
