Students who do not attend classes after registration will not sit BECE

Nkwabeng (B/A), Aug 15, GNA - The Nkoranza District Education Directorate in conjunction with the District Assembly will discipline final year students of Junior Secondary Schools who refuse to attend classes after registering for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

Mr Jarvis Agyemang-Badu, District Director of Education and Mr Kwame Ampofo-Twumasi, District Chief Executive, took the decision when they visited three junior secondary schools at Nkwabeng to discuss their BECE results with the headmasters and their staff.

The schools are Roman Catholic JSS, Presbyterian JSS and SDA JSS. They said students with such behaviour would not be allowed to take the examination since the practice has affected the results of schools and promoted indiscipline among students.

Mr Agyemang-Badu commended the staff of the SDA JSS for their hard work as the school jumped from the 17th position last year to top in the district with 100 percent passes in the BECE this year. Mr Ampofo-Twumasi appealed to parents to co-operate with teachers and encourage them to learn hard.

Mr Paul Opoku-Nsowah, Headmaster of SDA JSS, expressed gratitude to the District Director and the Chief Executive for the visit. He gave the assurance that the school authorities would maintain the record in the future.
