Students from V/R urged to maintain cultural identity

Takoradi, Nov. .28, GNA - Mr. James Gunu, a Past President of the Takoradi Polytechnic Chapter of the Volta Region Students Association (VORSA), at the weekend advised students from the Region to maintain their cultural identity.

He gave the advice when he addressed a general meeting of the Takoradi Polytechnic Chapter of VORSA at Takoradi.

Mr. Gunu who is the treasurer of the Effia-Kwesimintsim Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) said students from the Volta Region studying outside the Region should not abandon their dialects and blindly copy other cultures.

They should continue to uphold cultural practices like respect for the elderly and honesty.

Mr. Gunu said the rich culture of the Volta Region did not permit homosexuality.

Students from the Volta Region should, therefore, 93put homosexuality far from yourselves because God does not accept the practice as normal", he said.

Mr. Gunu further urged members of the association to unite and desist from acts that would bring the Volta Region into disrepute.

He asked them to unite and support the development of the Volta Region.
