Students and adults visit military establishments in Western Region

Sekondi, March. 8 - GNA -Over a thousand students, pupils and the elderly from all walks of life on Monday paid a familiarization tour of the Air Force, Naval and Apremdo barracks as part of the 47th Independence anniversary celebrations.

The occasion afforded the populace the opportunity to know at first hand how the various military establishments operate. At the Naval Base in Sekondi, a large number of students from Axim, Tarkwa, Kikam and Cape Coast, undertook guided sea trips in batches and were marvelled at the nature of operations of the Ghana Navy.

There were on display live boats and jackets, ceremonial uniforms and other uniforms used by the Navy, riffles and colours. The Coca Cola Company Limited also provided free refreshment for all who patronized the military installations.

Those who went to the Air Force and Apremdo barracks were also treated to similar display of military weaponry, uniforms, riffles and other equipment used by the services.

Master Kweku Boateng-Acheampong of the Tarkwa-Himan Methodist primary and Junior Secondary School expressed his appreciation to the government and the military for allowing them to visit the establishment and learning at first hand some of the tools and equipments used by the military.
