The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has appointed Nasira Afrah, Member of Parliament for Sekyere Afram Plains, as Ghana’s representative to the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

The appointment is a landmark move aimed at strengthening youth leadership and advancing gender inclusion within Ghana’s democratic institutions.

The role positions Afrah as part of the IPU, the world’s oldest and most respected organization of national parliaments and integrates her into a global network of emerging legislative leaders committed to deepening democratic governance and driving social transformation.

According to the Speaker, Afrah’s selection reflects Parliament’s commitment to empowering young voices and enhancing women’s participation in decision-making processes at both the national and international levels.
