Socio-econ development at Wassa Amenfi

The Wassa Amenfi District Assembly will not relent in its efforts to enhance and sustain the socio-economic infrastructure development of the district.

This was disclosed by the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Samuel Tekyi, when he addressed the first meeting of the 4th Wasa Amenfi District Assembly at Asankrangwa in the Western Region.

Hon. Tekyi said vital areas to be tackled this year would include: education, health, water and sanitation facilities.

In the area of education, Hon. Tekyi said the Japa JSS and Adjakaa Manso Primary School, which could not be tackled last year, would be started and completed this year.

Hon. Tekyi said seven educational projects have been approved under the HIPC initiative and GETFUND for immediate execution.

About sponsorships and other financial assistance to Wasa Amenfi students in JSS, SSS and tertiary institutions in the country, the DCE said their request will now be channelled through the Kasapreko Education Fund.

In the area of health, Mr. Tekyi said clinics at Dawurampong, Jukwa/Heman, Gravel Yard and Ayninabrim will be completed and made to operate under a new health scheme dubbed Company Based Health.

According to him, in order to inform, educate and entertain the citizenry in the district, the district assembly is assisting a private investor to establish an FM station in Asankrangwa.

Mr. Tekyi also disclosed that a new assembly hall with other facilities like presiding member’s office, committee rooms, public gallery and spacious hall with proper sitting arrangements befitting the status of the district will be constructed in phases.

The Presiding Member, Nana Kwaw Ade I, who is also the Divisional Chief of Wasa Nananko noted that with the spirit of co-operation and unity of purpose, the roles and contributions of each and every assembly member would succeed without any inhibitions.
