Social Electrification Jomoro

Some 44 towns in Jomoro District to be connected to national grid Half Assini (W/R), July 22, GNA- Forty-four communities in the Jomoro District would be provided with electricity under the District Assembly's Phase Four Self Help Electrification Programme (SHEP). Under the European Union-Government of Ghana small towns water programme, the people of Tikobo Number One, Nuba, Ezinlibo, Bonyere and Elubo would soon be supplied with pipe borne water. Mr Kojo Armah, acting Jomoro District Chief Executive, said the European Union (EU) project to extend electricity to Ekebaku, Allenganzuley, Allawule, Ebonla and Sowodadza is progressing. He was addressing the second ordinary meeting of the Assembly at Half Assini on Monday.

Mr Armah said a number of school blocks and sanitation projects costing over two billion cedis are being provided for some communities with financial assistance from the African Development Bank (ADB), EU, Social Investment Fund and the District Assembly Common Fund. He said the Assembly has provided 125 million cedis for five Community-Based Organisations (CBOs) to enhance HIV/AIDS awareness programmes. Nana Chiku Anyimiah, the Presiding Member, appealed to the government to appoint a substantive District Chief Executive for the district.
