Bawku (U/E), June 05, GNA - Mr Boniface Gambilla, the Upper East Regional Minister, has reiterated that the government would not discriminate against any ethnic group by depriving it of getting its fair share of the national cake. He said the government recognised the unique role being played by each ethnic group towards the overall national development and would not do anything that had the tendency to retard the aspirations of any group.
Mr Gambilla said this at the second annual gathering of the Moshie Youth Association at Bawku.
He said the government had created a free and orderly atmosphere that called for peaceful co-existence among all ethnic groups to accelerate growth.
The Regional Minister cautioned the youth to resist any attempt by some influential people in society who may induce them with monetary favours to cause violence in the area. Mr Gambilla appealed to the gathering to patronise the health insurance scheme, mass metro transit bus services, and enrolment of their wards under the capitation grant. He also called on them to increase tomato production to feed the revamped Pwalungu Tomato Factory. The Bawku Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Abdul-Rahman Gumah, lauded the efforts of the association for pursuing programmes that complement the assembly's policies in maintaining a clean environment. He said with the introduction of the capitation grant and the NEPAD school feeding programme, it behoves on parents to send their wards to school.
The chairman of the association, Mr. Hamidu Braimah, said the association seeks to promote good neighbourliness to promote growth and development.
