Skills training for women ends at Sekondi

Some 143 women last week passed out after a month's training in income generating skills such as the production of batik, tie and dye, liquid soap, parazone, beads and pastries at the Sekondi Naval Base.

The Western Region Naval Wives Association organized the training programme in collaboration with the GHACOE Women’s Ministry.

Speaking at the passing out ceremony, Mrs Leticia Biekro, wife of Rear Admiral Geoffrey Biekro, Chief of Naval Staff, advised the women to use the skills they have acquired to generate income to support their husbands.

She advised those whose husbands would soon be retiring to set up their own businesses to lessen the financial burdens for their families.

Mrs. Biekro commended the Naval Wives Association and the GHACOE Women’s Ministry for organizing the training programme because women all over the world were acquiring skills and becoming independent economically and they cannot be left out.
