Six individuals have been convicted by the Prempeh Assembly District Court in Kumasi for illegally dumping refuse at Otumfuo Roundabout in Kejetia.
Presiding judge Her Worship Deborah Gyaawa Donkoh found the accused "guilty" on Monday, May 11, 2026, after they pleaded guilty to the sanitation offense, 3news.com reported on May 11.
The convicts are Atta Gyamfi, 55; Manuna Ishawu, 24; Veronica Maako, 31; Mariama Iddrisu, 64; Kwadwo Amuzu, 37; and Ebenezer Atakorah, 25.
The court imposed a fine of "100 penalty units," equal to GHS 1,200.00, on each offender.
Those unable to pay were to serve a "10-day jail term" instead.
Five have already paid the fine. Ebenezer Atakorah did not pay and will now serve the 10-day jail sentence.
Metro Guards of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) arrested the group around 5:30 a.m. on May 11, 2026, while illegally dumping waste at the roundabout.
