Sisala West DCE On The Run

For some time now the Sissala West district of the Upper West is functioning without a substantive district chief executive. The president’s appointee Mr Moses Luri Dramani is on the run and in a hideout as result of demonstration organized by the chiefs and people of the area against his administration last month. The whereabouts of the DCE is becoming an issue as the district is being run solely by the district coordinating director.

The brouhaha started with the some NDC activists coming out openly to demonstrate against the DCE for what they termed as failure on the part of the DCE to fulfill his part of the bargain for working hard to put him into office.

Grapevine information gathered by this writer points to the fact that these group of NDC activist fighting the DCE are the very people the DCE and the current regional minister Alhaji Amidu Sulemani put together to kick out the then DCE of the area Mr Robert Wavai who they believed was nursing political ambition as a DCE for the area. And during the late Professor Mills’ administration Mr Robert Wavai was removed through the mechanization of the current DCE and the regional minister who planned and kicked him out office.
The arrangement then was that the current Upper West Regional minister Alhaji Hamidu Sulemani who was one time a member of parliament for the area will go for the seat only for a term and then hand over to the DCE for Sissala West Mr Dramani Luri Moses.
During the run up to the 2012 general elections, there was a shooting incident in the Sissala West area which was believed to be politically motivated but attributed to armed robbery of which the current regional minister nearly lost his life but for the timely intervention of his police body guard.
Just this month there has been a cold blood murder of a teacher who it was believed to be a mistaken identity killing at the same spot where the current regional minister was shot at in the Sissala West area. As at press time no word about the killing of the said teacher has been leaked and the matter is being handled at the traditional level with gods been sworn for the exposure of the culprits believed to be contract killers from Burkina Faso. The actual target was to get the ring leader of the demonstrators against the DCE for the area Mr Moses one Issahaku but since he had a similar motor bike like the murdered teacher the attack was wrongly targeted resulting in the death of the innocent teacher.
The situation is so tensed that many believed that some political big wigs are behind the demonstrators and are shielding them. Most of the ring leaders have sworn fire and brimstone if the district chief executive for the area returns there will be total bloodshed and chaos. The district is current without any spending officer as development has been stalled for some time now.
The DCE is said to have exposed his parliamentary ambition too early and that has sent some apprehension to his political opponent including the current sitting regional minister. As a development worker before his appointment as DCE he seems to know too well on the ground and appears to have known the political groundswell much more to his advantage. And that is the price he is paying.
It is also believe that the DCE has a poor working relationships with people and has developed a no nonsense attitude towards his parliamentary ambition.
Many believe here that the president, the appointing officer of the DCE is being denied the truth of the whole matter and still does not know that the DCE is on the run and the president needs to be told the truth of the entire situation if he does not know indeed
