Severe storm causes havoc in Hohoe Municipality

Hohoe, April 2, GNA - A fierce rainstorm on Wednesday afternoon caused considerable damage to many property in the Hohoe Municipality. The most affected institution was the Hohoe E. P. Senior High School, (HEPSS) where the entire roof of the girls' dormitory was ripped away. Two bungalows, including that of Mr Teddy Ofori, the Assistant Headmaster, had their roofs partly ripped.

When the Ghana News Agency paid visit to the School, Mr Ofori said there were no casualties but mattresses were hired to temporarily accommodate the girls because the rains had inundated their beddings on the last night for vacation.

Meanwhile, scores of individual homes in the suburbs of Hohoe, including Ahado, Zongo and Tsevi, and some utility lines and trees suffered from the ravages of the storm.

Mr Gabriel Deh, Hohoe Municipal Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation, (NADMO) described the disaster as "totally bad" and added that the damage was being assessed for appropriate action.
