Settlers urged to live in peace at Oblogo

Oblogo (G/R), April 18, GNA - Akan Mmoaye Kuo, an Association of Akans resident at Oblogo in the Ga District of the Greater Accra Region, aimed at ensuring unity among its members has been inaugurated. Speaking at the inauguration, Nii Kwaku Bibini III, Chief of Oblogo, called the members to support projects to enhance the rapid development of the town now that there was peace in the area after a protracted chieftaincy dispute.

Nii Bibini whose speech was read on his behalf by the Gyasehene of Oblogo, Nii Komoh said, "We should exhibit a high level of tolerance and maturity to ensure the rapid development of this town." He said the dispute, which created panic and fear among the people had been settled amicably with the slaughtering of a cow at a ceremony witnessed by the MP for the area, Ms Shirley Ayorkor Botchway recently. The Chief assured settlers in the town of their security and urged them to go about their activities in peace and without fear. He charged the executives of the Association to sensitise the members to be environmental conscious to facilitate the development of the area.

Nii Bibini appealed to the Ga District Assembly to re-roof the Oblogo cluster of schools, which was ripped off in a rainstorm recently. Mr. Jonathan Annor, Chairman of the Association accepted the challenge and assured the chiefs and people of their support and participation in all projects initiated in the town. He said the area was confronted with a mounting sanitation problem due to the indiscriminate dumping of refuse and asked the people to ensure environmental cleanliness at all times. Mr. James Prah a businessman who inaugurated the 14-member executive urged them to steer the affairs of the Association properly for the next four years.

The members of the Association undertook a four-hour clean up exercise in the town before the inauguration.
