Send projects to rural areas - Contractor

Mankessim (C/R), Nov. 24, GNA - Mr Joseph Ato Hagan, a building contractor, has appealed to well to do people residing in the cities to erase the erroneous conception that they would be killed through spiritual means when they establish economic ventures in their villages.

He said it is unfortunate that many prominent people from rural communities have turned their backs on their areas retarding development.

Speaking to the GNA, Mr Hagan appealed to churches and families to encourage the burial of their prominent members where they hail to make them contribute to the improvement of facilities in rural areas. "We should not let the facilities in the cities and urban towns make us forget about our roots," he said.

Mr Hagan said it is unfortunate that the youth have also joined the rural-urban drift and expressed concern about the refusal of teachers to accept posting to villages because of lack of good accommodation and facilities. He noted that, "buildings we inherited from our grand parents are all collapsing because there is no money to maintain them". Mr Hagan appealed to the government and investors to establish economic ventures in rural communities. GNA
