Self-help spirit earns assistance for community

Mesomagor (C/R), Oct. 10, GNA- A three classroom block built through the efforts of the Mesomagor community, near Nyankomasi Ahenkro in the Assin district was inaugurated on Thursday.

The occasion also marked the commissioning of the Area Development Project (ADP) of World Vision, Ghana, for the local Junior Secondary School at Mesomagor.

The community provided sand, stones, water and labour while the ADP supplied other materials valued at about 84 million cedis.

Mr Francis Armah Arnor, ADP manager who commissioned the building, said the World Vision had funded a number of development projects in the community because of the self-help spirit of the people, whom he said, initiated projects.

Mr Arnor said the ADP had also supported the education of some needy but brilliant girls, and paid the medical bills amounting to 4.5 million cedis for one of the pupils who got detained at a hospital in Cape Coast because his parents could not afford to pay the medical bill. Mr David Kissiedu, the headteacher, appealed to the district assembly to renovate the local primary school block.
