Sekondi-Takoradi gets hi-speed Internet service

Takoradi, Jan. 7, GNA - Vodafone Ghana has inaugurated a state-of-the-art Internet service centre in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.

Mr Joseph K. Kyei, Western Regional Retail Manager of Vodafone Ghana, said the 60- seater facility had a 40 megabytes speed as its minimum and 100 megabytes per second, which made the facility the fastest Internet service in the metropolis.

He said the reliance on optic fibre, would go a long way to improve telecommunications and the use of Internet services nationwide.

Mr. Kyei explained that the facility was aimed at students, researchers, businessmen and the general public.

He said the introduction of the Internet centre in addition to Vodafone mobile connect, dial-up, broadband, were an indication of the company's willingness to make Information, Communication and Technology accessible and affordable for every Ghanaian.

Mr. Kyei said Tarkwa and Elubo are likely to enjoy the internet services by the middle of this year.

The centre was opened on December 21, 2009.
