School of Applied Science of T’poly holds research conference

The research conference provided the platform for academicians and researchers to share their research findings and knowledge to the teaching and non-teaching community.

Mr. Kow Panyin Nketsiah Richardson, Public Relations Officer of the Takoradi Polytechnic, told the Ghana News Agency that the Research Conference had come to stay, and it would help the Department to more frequently interact with the learning and industrial communities.

“You are therefore called upon to look out for notices and posters "Calling for Papers". It is noteworthy to mention that we accept only original and unpublished papers”, he added.

Mr. Nketsiah-Richardson said the Department would conduct research into the Industrial Sciences, Hospitality, Statistics, Mathematics, Computing, ICT and Tourism Services in Ghana and beyond.

The Vice Rector of the Polytechnic, Mr. Emmanuel Okumi Andoh, said at least two reviewers of academic repute must edit papers submitted which would be in Conference Proceeding Books with International Standard Book Number at the conference.

He added that the Book of Abstracts would be published on the website of the Polytechnic.

“We welcome papers from Archeology to Zoology. Instructions on paper submission can be obtained from the Polytechnics website: tpoly.edu.gh”.

The Head of Science Department, Mr. Stephen Kofi Anin, recalled that the School of Applied Science was established in 1993 when the Polytechnics were upgraded to tertiary status under the Ghana Educational Reforms Programme.

The school operates with five Departments, namely, Hospitality Management, Mathematics and Statistics, Tourism Management, Computer Science.

Mr. Annin said plans were far advanced for the school to run the following chemical Process Technology, Dispensing Technology, Science Laboratory Technology, Food Science and Technology, Computer Science and Bachelor of Technology Programme in Statistics.
