School head pleads for repair of structures

The head teacher of WESCO Cluster of Schools in Kumasi, Mrs Grace Duah-Boateng, has appealed to the Metropolitan Assembly to act without delay to repair classroom structures damaged by rainstorm.

Strong winds accompanying a heavy rainfall which hit the metropolis in the early part of the year, left in its trail extensive destruction of the roofing and cracks to the walls and pillars of some of the school buildings.

Mrs Duah-Boateng, who spoke to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said things needed to be put right before schools re-open for the next academic term to ensure smooth teaching and learning.

The authorities should make sure that the pupils and teachers are not exposed to continued danger, she added.
