School children in Ashanti to receive training in first aid

Kumasi, July 14, GNA - Students in basic and tertiary institutions in the Ashanti Region are to benefit from a comprehensive programme on how to properly administer first aid. Mr Kingford Fosu-Boateng, the Regional Manager of the Ghana Red Cross Society, (GRCS) said this initiative of the society, would significantly help to assure safety both in the school environment and at home.

This was when he led a delegation to pay a courtesy call on the Regional Minister, Dr Kwaku Agyemang-Mensah, at his office in Kumasi. They were there to update him on the activities and programmes of the society.

Dr Agyemang-Mensah welcomed the intervention and pledged his support. He noted that given efficient handling of accident victims and some level of competence in administering first aid, most accidental deaths could be prevented. Mr Felix Asrachie Baidoo, the GRCS Regional Public Relations Advisor, encouraged more young people to join in providing humanitarian services to the society.
