Sasso supports Otumfour Charity Foundation

Samara Company Limited, producer of Sasso Insecticide Spray and Coil, on Wednesday June 17, 2015, donated 2,000 branded exercise books; cartons of insecticide spray and coil, and an undisclosed amount of money to the Otumfour Osei Tutu II Charity Foundation, to assist in its operations and successful running.

The donation was done at the Manhyia Palace in the Ashanti Region, and forms part of 10,000 exercise books distributed to selected school children in the Ashanti Region, through the region’s representative in the 2014 Ghana’s Most Beautiful contest, Pricilla Ofori Acheampong, also known as Abena Boatemaa.

Presenting the items, a board member of Samara Company Limited, Nana Appiagyei Dankawoso I, said the company had observed with keen interest the works of the Foundation, and appreciates the success it has chalked since its inception by the Asantehene, Otumfuor Osei Tutu II.

“It is in this vein that we at Samara Company Limited, as part of our corporate social responsibility, see it as an imperative idea to support this noble cause,” Nana said.

He pledge that additional 50,000 copies of branded exercise books with the Asantehene’s picture embossed on them would be donated to the foundation in the coming weeks.

Receiving the items from the Samara Group, a board member, and Executive Director of the Otumfuor Osei Tutu II Charity Foundation, Dr. Thomas Agyarko-Poku, lauded Samara Company for the initiative.

He said the exercise books and the other donated items will go a long way to positively affect the lives of the beneficiary school children. According to Dr. Agyarko-Poku, the operations of the foundation keep enlarging everyday with many children benefitting; therefore, such a gesture from Samara Company was highly appreciated by the Foundation.

“The Otumfour Osei Tutu II Charity Foundation appreciates the support of Sasso. The books are much needed, therefore, our doors are opened for further collaborations,” The Executive Director disclosed, and assured the Samara Group of a lasting relationship between the two bodies.

Over 1,000 school children in selected towns in the Ashanti Region have received free exercise books from Sasso, through Abena Boatemaa, the Ashanti Regional representative in the 2014 TV3 Ghana’s Most Beautiful (GMB) contest. The beneficiary towns included: Offinso, Kumasi, Obuasi, Ahinsan, Mampong, Bantama, and Chrapatre.

The Offinsohene, Nana Wiafe Akenten III, expressed excitement over the gesture, saying that the books will help cut down educational burdens on parents in providing books for their wards. He congratulated Abena on participating in the GMB contest, and thanked Samara Group for the gesture.

Nana was hopeful that the books will help shape the educational lives of the beneficiaries, and implored the Sasso team to continue supporting education in Ghana. The Ashanti Region books donation exercise is the eighth to be carried out. So far, school children in the Brong Ahafo, Central, Western, Volta and the three Northern Regions have already had their share of the exercise books.

The Marketing Manager of Samara Company Limited, Mr. Sedrick Ologo, disclosed that school children in the Eastern and Greater Accra Regions will soon receive their portions of the exercise books in the coming.

In all, a total of 100,000 branded exercise books will be given out; with each Region acquiring 10,000. The initiative aims at improving basic education in Ghana.
