Saltpond Methodist High School excels in SSSCE

Saltpond (C/R), Dec 14, GNA - One hundred and twenty-eight out of 177 students of the Methodist High School at Saltpond who took the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination this year qualified to further their education in the universities and other tertiary institutions. In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Saltpond on Tuesday, the Reverend Solomon Paa Grant Essilfie, Headmaster, said 68 passed in eight subjects, 28 in seven subjects while 32 passed in six subjects.

The Headmaster said 36 students passed in five subjects eight in four subjects while four and one passed in three and two subjects respectively. There was no total failure, he said adding that the best aggregate was six. Rev Grant Essilfie said the students scored 100 per cent passes in Social Studies, Christian Religious Studies, French, Costing and General Knowledge in Arts. He said 106 and 116 students passed in English language and Mathematics respectively, with three of them getting grade A and 13 grade B in the latter subject.

Rev Grant-Essilfie described the results as a "Silver Jubilee Package" from the school and said it would have something to be proud of during the celebration of the anniversary early next year. The Headmaster commended the staff and students for a good work done and appealed to the final year students to work hard to improve upon the performance.
