Member of Parliament for Salaga South, Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, has held a productive meeting at her residence in Kpembe with the Coalition of Salaga Youth Group and traditional authority leaders to address key developmental challenges in the constituency.

The engagement, part of the MP’s efforts to foster collaboration with community stakeholders, focused on critical issues including electricity, water, sanitation, youth unemployment, the abandoned 60-bed Euroget Salaga District Hospital, and the deplorable state of roads.

On electricity, the youth and traditional leaders shared insights from their meeting with the Northern Regional NEDCo Director and a visit to Bimbilla.

Hajia Zuwera acknowledged the impact of power outages and assured that the recently completed Datoyili substation, currently under testing, will soon connect Salaga. She pledged to work with the Minister for Energy and Green Transition and NEDCo for sustainable solutions.

Addressing water scarcity, the MP highlighted ongoing efforts to secure borehole projects and improve water infrastructure through discussions with the Managing Director of Ghana Water Company Limited, Adam Muntawakilu.

On sanitation, concerns about poor waste management were raised. Hajia Zuwera committed to collaborating with the District Assembly to enhance services and promote sustainable waste disposal practices.

Youth unemployment was a major concern, with the MP emphasizing vocational training, entrepreneurship programs, and partnerships with government and private sectors to create job opportunities.

The stalled 60-bed Euroget Salaga District Hospital was discussed, with the MP updating stakeholders on her advocacy with the Ministry of Health to expedite its completion. She also addressed road conditions, noting that some contracts have been awarded and contractors are mobilizing, with efforts ongoing to resume work on township roads.

The meeting, attended by Adam Bawa Doshie (President), Mohammed Braimah (Vice President), Yussif Hakeem (Secretary), Mohammed Nashiru-Nash (P.R.O), Maame Lardi (Deputy P.R.O), Yussif Alhassan (Salaga Youth Chief), and the MP’s Research Assistant, Saaka Sulemana, concluded with a commitment to continued collaboration.

Hajia Zuwera thanked the group for their input and reaffirmed her dedication to advancing Salaga South’s development.
