STMA passes by-law to regulate the use of minors as drivers’ mates

The Sekondi/Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) is to pass a by-law to prevent under-age children to be used as drivers’ mates.

The situation, according to authorities, was hampering the academic work and even school attendance by such children, majority of who are below 18 years.

Captain Anthony Cudjoe (Rtd), the Metropolitan Chief Executive, said this at the Second meeting of the Second Session of the Fifth Assembly at Sekondi.

He said video game centers, which had also become another area of concern in achieving and improving schools performance, would also not be left out.

Capt. Cudjoe said the assembly was also taking steps to document all public school lands to curtail encroachment whiles moves were underway to provide at least two schools in deprived communities with feeding.**
