STMA initiating preventive measures against floods

Mr Isaac Affum, the Head of Physical Planning at the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly, has said there is no need for any demolition exercise as a measure to prevent flooding this rainy season.

He said the Assembly is currently identifying flood prone areas within the metropolis and that, measures are being put in place to halt the floods.

Mr Affum, who spoke to the Ghana News Agency in Sekondi, said some measures being initiated include the construction of culverts, which covers an area of about eight kilometers, stretching from Apremdo through to Anaji, Kansawrodo, Ntankoful, Asakae and Nkroful, which are all flood prone areas.

He expressed the hope that when the project are completed, the issue of the perennial flooding will be solved.
