SSNIT Pensioners pay courtesy call on Asantehene

The Social Security and National Insurance Trust Scheme (SSNIT) National Pensioners’ Association had paid a courtesy call on Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, at his Manhyia Palace.

Mr. Edward Ameyibor, the General Secretary, and Mr. Samuel Benney-Tease, Ashanti Regional Chairman, jointly led the delegation.

They were there to officially invite the Asantehene to become a life patron of the association.

The delegation used the occasion to donate an undisclosed amount of money in support of the Otumfuo Education Fund.

Delegates to the association’s quadrennial conference held in Kumasi had joined worshipers at the Adum Ramseyer Memorial Church to give thanks to God for the successful meeting.

The Reverend Rexford Asamoah-Prah, District Minister of the Church, urged the senior citizens to help guide the society on the right path through their wise counseling.

He urged them to bring their enormous experience over the years to bear on the youth.

Rev. Asamoah-Prah praised them for their immeasurable contribution to the nation and said it was his prayer that God would continue to bless pensioners with more fulfilling lives.

Mrs. Janet Amerley Esseku, National Women’s Organizer of the Association, appealed to all pensioners to join the association.

She also appealed to young people to respect the aged and those in authority.
