Rotary Club of Tema inducts new President

Tema, July 12, GNA - The Rotary Club of Tema has inducted into office Mr Ben Gyampo as its new President for the next Rotary Year, beginning from July 1, 2011 to June 30, 2012.

Mr Gyampo took over from Nana Yaw Gyane, the 47th President of the club, since it started electing its Presidents for a one-year tenure starting from 1965.

He heads a six-member executive with Dr T.K Caiquo as the Vice President and Dr Emmanuel Diaba as Sergeant-At-Arms.

Speaking at the President's Ball, Mr Gyampo said humanity has been the business of Rotary for a very long time, adding 93there is a very rich history of interventions that have brought smiles and hope to otherwise helpless women and children in the developing world."

He said Rotary was collaborating with USAID in a multi-million-dollar project to provide water and sanitation facilities to four regions in the country.

Mr Gyampo appealed to Rotarians to remain focused, increase humanitarian services and enhance public image and awareness.

"The work of Rotary in providing solutions to needs in deprived communities will continue without letup," he said and added that nothing could be worse than members losing the vision of Rotary, which is 93Service To Mankind."

Nana Yaw Gyane, the immediate Past President of the Club, commended friends of Rotary as well as the donor community for their numerous assistance and support over the years and appealed to them to continue to assist the Club to deliver.
