Richard Ben Debrah receives continental honour for infrastructure leadership

The Head of the Works Department at the Tema West Municipal Assembly, Ing Richard Ben Debrah, has been honoured with the prestigious African Ambassadorial award for Infrastructure Development and Engineering Excellence by The Business Executive in Kenya.

The ambassadorial title conferred on Richard Ben Debrah is in recognition of his outstanding contributions to infrastructure development and engineering excellence across Ghana and the African continent.

Engedaye Eshete of the Equal Trade Women Alliance of Ethiopia, who presented the award to Ing Richard Ben Debrah, celebrated his commitment to sustainability, professional innovation, and his transformative impact on infrastructure systems in local governance.

Dr Baroness Paulette Kporo, CEO of the Awards Organisation, on her part, commended Engr Debrah for his exceptional leadership and urged him to continue to be a trailblazer in engineering and infrastructure development.

“Engr Ben Debrah embodies the vision of the African Ambassadorial Title Awards. His dedication to sustainable infrastructure, professional excellence, and grassroots transformation in Ghana is exactly the kind of leadership Africa needs,” she stated.

In his acceptance speech, Engr Debrah underscored the vital role engineering plays in Africa’s development and encouraged engineers across Africa to remain devoted to innovation, sustainability, and high professional standards to help advance the continent’s transformation agenda.

“Our role in shaping the continent’s infrastructure is pivotal in ensuring sustainable economic growth and regional development,” he said.

He dedicated the award to his team at the Tema West Municipal Assembly, his colleagues at the Local Government Service Engineers Association of Ghana, the Ghana Institution of Engineering, and St Bakhita Catholic Church in Koforidua, acknowledging their collective support and prayers.

He also gave special thanks to his wife and family, recognising their unshakable support as the foundation of his professional journey.

The event organised by The Business Executive attracted prominent dignitaries, diplomats, and policymakers from countries such as Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Belarus, and Ghana, underscoring the international significance of the awards.
