Retire educationist contest NDC Nkawkaw Primaries

Nkawkaw, (E/R), Nov. 16, GNA - A 63-year-old retired educationist and former rural community worker of the World Vision International (WVI), Ghana, has declared his intention to contest the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Parliamentary Primaries in the Nkawkaw constituency.

The retired educationist, Mr Bamfo Boateng said his aim to contest the Parliamentary seat is to present the numerous socio-economic problems facing the rural people in the constituency to Parliament for the needed assistance to enhance the living standard of the people.

Mr Boateng declared his intention to contest the election when the Eastern Regional Organiser of NDC, Mr Tawiah Boateng paid a two-day visit to the constituency.

He said with his 33 years working experience in the constituency, he knows the problems, such as poor road network, poor sanitation, poverty and the Nkawkaw water system, which he will present to Parliament for redress when given the nod to represent the people in the fourthcoming Parliament elections.

Mr Boateng said he is the best candidate to win the constituency seat for the NDC because he had worked and stayed with the rural people throughout his life and urged the parrty supporters to give him th needed co-operation and assistance to enable him to capture the seat from the NPP.

The Regional Organiser commended Mr Boateng for his bold intention to contest the constituency primaries and advised the constituency executives to assist any member of the party, who wants to contest the primaries for the party to elect a credible candidate to win the constituency seat from the ruling party.

He advised the party supporters in the three constituencies in the district not to be worried and disturbed about Mr Peter Wiafe Peprah's defection to the NPP recently but take a queue from Alhaji Inusah and a large number of some NPP supporters who defected to NDC during the 2000

Presidential and Parliamentary elections where the party lost to the NPP and therefore urged them to remain united and intensify their campaign for the party to re-capture power in the 2004 general election.

Mr Boateng said loans from the poverty alleviation fund are being disbursed on party basis, where NPP constituency executives are presenting names of their party members to the district assemblies to be granted the loans where non-party members were turned away when they submitted their application for loans adding that funds for the loans belong to the State, whereby every citizen irrespective of his party affiliation could benefit.

Among those present at Mr Boateng's declaration, included Mr Yaw Odame, Acting constituency Chairman, Fuseini Soala, Secretary, the Women Organiser, Madam Abena Joyce and Mr, John Owusu, the Proproganda Secretary.
