Resource Link Foundation donates teaching materials to pupils

Wenchi (B/A), April 3, GNA - Resource Link Foundation (RLF), a non-governmental organization in Ghana and the Netherlands, has rehabilitated a block of six classrooms for the Wenchi 'Model A' Primary School at the cost of GH¢8,800 to improve facilities at the school to enhance teaching and learning.

The NGO has also embarked on HIV/AIDS and Sexual Reproduction Education for schools as well as organizing inter-schools quiz competition to help check the spread of the virus.

Mr. Christopher Dapaah, Coordinating Director of the NGO at Wenchi, said this when he donated 10,000 exercise books, pens and pencils valued at GH¢5,000 on behalf of the organization to 750 students and pupils in some basic schools in the Wenchi Municipality. He said a poverty profile conducted in the municipality in 2008 revealed that about 7,093 school children lacked teaching materials including exercise books, sandals, school uniforms, bags and others which in the long run affected their performances. Mr. Dapaah said the donation was therefore the widow's mite of the organization towards effective teaching and learning in the municipality.

Mr. Cosmos Gyansi, the Assistant Director of Education in-charge of Monitoring and Supervision at the Wenchi Municipal Directorate of Education who received the items, thanked the donors for the gift.
