Residents chastise Mahama over Sofoline project

Works on the much-talked-about Sofoline Interchange Project in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital, has come to a halt.

This development seems to have kindled the wrath of most Kumasi residents as they do not know the reasons for the immediate stop of work.

Some residents in the city however suspect the NDC administration for their lack of commitment towards the development of the region as one of the major reasons why such a major project had been halted.

Information reaching DAILY GUIDE indicates that workers for the project had also abandoned the site.

Until this turn of events, the project, considered to be the biggest road project in Kumasi, was going on smoothly.

However, the hopes of most residents had been dashed as the project had not been completed and commissioned as was formerly scheduled.

The angry Kumasi residents are also pointing accusing fingers at the NDC government for playing second fiddle with major works in Kumasi because it is the opposition’s bastion. According to them, the Mahama-led administration seemed to have an agenda against Kumasi and its people.

They indicated that government ought to show some commitment to their needs as they also pay taxes like any other Ghanaian.

The Sofoline Interchange Project is an initiative of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) led government.

The project had suffered several misfortunes including workers laying down their tools over poor wages in the past.

The Ghanaian workers on the project site once fought openly with their Chinese superiors which only took the intervention of police to forestall peace.

The recent halt of work at the project site would surely extend the date of the completion of the controversial Sofoline Interchange.
