Residents at New Fadama in the Greater Accra Region have raised a red alert over the unstable power supply in the area. They explained, the 'dumsor' has led to an increase in criminal activities around Musuli and Market areas all at New Fadama.

The residents nearly burnt an alleged thief who invaded some houses in the area to rob them of their valuable items at dawn today.

The alleged thief reportedly took opportunity of the power outage to embark on his robbing spree.

According to the residents who spoke to Nyankonton Mu Nsem, armed robbers and wee smokers have invaded the community terrorizing them at night. The residents noted, the situation is worse because the area do not have stable power.

"The robbers break into our rooms to rob us almost every evening all because we do not have stable power supply. We sometimes find it difficult to come home at night for fear of being attacked. I am not exaggerating. We employ the police service to come to this area and provide us with security. The wee smokers and thieves are terrorizing us. They knock our doors at night when the lights are out and break in to rob us. They sometimes set our doors on fire to gain access into our rooms to rob us. We are afraid and we want the police to come to our aid" one of the residents told Nyankonton Mu Nsem.

He also revealed that, he personally called the police patrol team but was asked to to a nearby police station to officially lodge a complain.
