Red Cross trains 72 teachers in first

The Western Regional Office of the Ghana Red Cross Society, in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare has trained 72 teachers in basic first aid to enable them to give early assistance to school children in an emergency.

Mr. Michael Kingsford Cobbinah, Regional First Aid Coordinator of GRCS, told the GNA in an interview on Monday that the teachers were taken through theory and practical aspects of first aid.

He said the GRCS believed that first aid education must start early in schools, especially at the junior levels so that the children could grow with it.

Mr. Cobbinah said the GRCS was committed to promoting the safety of Ghanaians and therefore called for more membership.**
