Real Admiral Peter Kofi Faidoo, Chief of the Naval Staff has commended the officers and men at the Western Naval Base for their duty readiness despite limited resources.

Real Admiral Faidoo made the commendation when he inspected facilities at the base as part of his week-long administrative inspection of the Naval base command in Sekondi.

He inspected the naval training school, the water break, Naval dock complex, swimming pool/ cement shed, multipurpose court /gym, sailors academic / Navy church, Sekondi barracks/ Fort George

The inspection which is an annual programme allows the chief of staff to ascertain the achievements and the challenges of the command so as to make the necessary amends.

Real Admiral Faidoo expressed his satisfaction at what he had seen at the base stressing "am so impressed with what I have seen despite the limited resources and funds available at your disposal".

He described the western naval base as the largest in the country and said though the government was doing everything for the command to meet its needs, it still had some challenges, which was mainly in adequate funds.

Real Admiral Faidoo commended the western command for their duty readiness and keeping their equipment and tools in good shape and said the government was doing everything to give them the needed support to enable them give of their best.

He hinted that through the efforts of the western command, two boats had been arrested at sea with smuggled fuel and that they have been handed over to the police for the necessary action to be taken against them.

Other activities lined up for the week-long inspection include; Fleet review, ceremonial parade, Thanksgiving and religious parade as well as the inauguration of four defender class boats donated by the Chinese government.
