Re-construct new bridge over Ayensu River

Fawomanye (C/R), Oct 29, GNA - The Assemblyman for Fawomanye Electoral Area, Mr Mansfield Atta Ninsin, has petitioned the Minister of Roads and Transport to ensure the re-construction of the bridge linking Agona Kwanyako, Fawomanye and the communities.

He said the bridge was in a bad state that motorists fear carrying passengers and farm produce across it to the market at Kasoa, Awutu Bawjiase and Agona Swedru.

Mr Ninsin, who conducted the GNA round to inspect the extent of damage, said this had affected economic activities of the inhabitants of the area.

He noted that two vehicles recently were involved in accident on the bridge resulting in lose of life and property. Mr Ninsin, said farmers, businessmen and women were finding it difficult to cope with the situation and called for urgent attention to find a lasting solution to the problem.

The Assemblyman pointed out that several appeals to the authorities and Non Governmental Organizations NGOs to have the bridge reconstructed have proved futile.

He said the delay in the reconstruction of the bridge, which was constructed in the late 1940s, could lead to a disaster and appealed to the Agona District Assembly to help provide a temporary solution. Mr Ninsin called on the government to re-shape the roads from Fawoanye to Gomoa Akotsi and Fawoamnye to Otwekrom to facilitate the transportation of goods and services.

He appealed to the Agona District Assembly to construct two culverts on the road linking Okotokrom and Otwekrom to save the road from being washed of by a heavy down pour.
