Final-year students are hit the hardest in with the situation, as they continue to sit for the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

With no electricity in sight, some students have reportedly resorted to studying with torchlights and other improvised lighting sources at night just to keep up with revision ahead of their papers.

The situation has also disrupted evening learning sessions, while the school’s computer laboratory has been shut down temporarily due to the outage.

According to school authorities, the matter was immediately reported to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), but officials have yet to visit the school to assess the damage or begin repair works.

“The issue was promptly reported to ECG, but officials are yet to come to the school to assess the situation or start restoration works,” school authorities said.

A teacher assisting the WASSCE candidates described the situation as worrying, indicating that the prolonged outage is affecting revision and academic preparation.

Meanwhile, anxiety is growing on campus as about 175 candidates continue to write the examination despite the situation.

Students and staff are appealing to ECG and other relevant authorities to urgently intervene and restore electricity to the school.
