Queenmother appeals for vocational training centre

Mampong-Akuapem, Oct. 6, GNA - The Queenmother of Mampong-Akuapem, Nana Akua Perbia has appealed to the Government to establish a vocational training centre in the town.

Nana Perbia who made the appeal at a durbar to mark the annual celebration of the Ohum festival of the chiefs and people, noted that the acquisition of employable skills especially by the youth would help check the high incidence of teenage pregnancy and immoral acts.

She announced that she had organized 30 women to benefit from skill training under the auspices of the "Mampong Association of Classic Traders (MACLAT)".

She appealed to the Ministry of Women and Children's Affairs, to offer the group with credit facilities to enable them increase productivity.

Nana Perbia, also a Trade Unionist who was also celebrating one year of her enstoolment as Queenmother, joined the people in a clean-up exercise as part of the celebration.

She asked the people to ensure a clean environment to help prevent the outbreak of communicable diseases.
