Pupils get school uniforms and exercise books

Breman Asikuma (C/R), Aug. 8, GNA 97 The Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District Assembly and the District Directorate of the Ghana Education Service has distributed 3,480 school uniforms and 174,568 exercise books to pupils in deprived communities in the district.

The District Chief Executive, Mrs Nkrumah Aboah, said this at the fourth Session of the Fifth Assembly of the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District at Breman Asikuma.

He said the communities were identified with assistance from the District Education Oversight Committee in collaboration with the District Directorate of Education.

Mrs Aboah said the joy and great sign of relief exhibited by the pupils and parents during the distribution of the items showed the urgent need for the District Assembly to buy more school uniforms for distribution to other deprived communities in order to complement the efforts of the government.

On the school feeding program, she said the programme is on-going in eleven schools with nine caterers.

She said the Assembly was awaiting approval from the Ministry of Local government and Rural Development and the National Secretariat of the Programme for more school to be included in the Programme.
