Nakpachie E/P school abandoned Nakpachie E/P school abandoned

Classrooms at the Nakpachie E/P School in the Nakpachie community in the Yendi Municipality of the Northern Region have been abandoned by pupils.

The pupils, 3news.com gathers, have fled the town together with their parents to neighbouring communities for safety.

A clash between two feuding factions in Nakpachie on Thursday November 8, 2018 saw one person killed while one other sustained gunshot injuries.

Some mud houses were burnt to ashes as a result of the clash that ensued.

Not a single pupil was seen at the only school in the community on Friday when the news team visited the community.

The few residents the news team met were ready to flee as they waited for any available vehicle to hop into.

The Northern Regional Minister Salifu Saeed has called for cease fire between the two feuding factions, after assessing the level of destruction together with members of the Northern Regional Security Council on Friday.

He underscored the need for peaceful coexistence between the two groups which will help bring the needed development.

“We have to learn to coexist with each other to ensure peace. The youth should channel their time and energy into development endeavors instead of taking arms to kill each other.”

Meanwhile, a 6-6 curfew has been imposed on the community by the Interior Minister Ambrose Dery, with a total ban placed on the transporting of fire arms.
