Addressing the workers, Nkawkaw District Manager of Electricity Company of Ghana, Mr Emmanuel Boateng advised the workers and residents in the area to embrace the pre-paid electricity system, to avoid power losses and over billing and ensure efficient management of energy. In an address read on his behalf, Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Alex Somuah Obeng said government was aware of the poor remuneration of workers in the public sector hence the introduction of the Single Spine Salary Structure to improve upon their condition of service.

He urged the workers to increase their output to justify the salary increase to be effected in July and avoid laziness, truancy, lateness and other negative practices that could retard national development. The Chairman for the occasion, Reverend Father Joseph Larweh in charge of Nkawkaw District of the Catholic Church, commended the workers for contributing their quota towards the development of the country despite the poor remuneration they receive. 4 May 10
