Property destroyed by fire at Winneba

Winneba (C/R), Oct. 6, GNA - Fire gutted part of a house at Winneba at the early hours on Tuesday morning destroying property worth millions of cedis and cash two million cedis.

The items included 200 pieces of wax prints, two sawing machines, two 24-inch colour television sets, two deep freezers, sixteen plastic chairs and six pieces of students' mattresses.

The cause of the fire had not yet been established.

It took the officers from the Agona Swedru Fire Service Station about 90 minutes to bring the fire under control.

The Winneba District Fire Service Station could not respond to an SOS call from the victim following the breaking down of their fire tender.

Madam Naa Larteley, the victim, who spoke with the Ghana News Agency appealed to the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), NGOs, philanthropists and other donors to come to her aid. The Assemblyman for the area Mr. Yakubu Barry expressed gratitude to the youth in the area that also helped to bring the fire under control.
