Proper child upbringing is the key to Ghana's development

Kumasi, April 27, GNA - The Reverend Otuo Acheampong, Chairperson of the Asante Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), has stated that the nation stood the risk of generating irresponsible citizens if parents and stakeholders do not invest in proper child upbringing.

He observed that children and the youth were important assets to realising the nation's development goals.

Rev Acheampong was speaking at the second Asante Presbytery congress of the Bantama branch of Young Adults Fellowship (YAF) of the church in Kumasi at the weekend.

It was on the them; "Put on the Whole Armour of God - Developing Effective Family Life for Effective Church and Nation Building".

The Chairperson pointed out that the increasing spate of social vices in the country could be reduced if "we have a disciplined youth who were patriotic, educated and God-fearing".

He cautioned members of YAF not to use the fellowship as an avenue to promote their own selfish and interest agenda but be committed to its principles to enhance their image.

Mr Enyo Kwasi Lotsu, Chairman of the Asante Presbytery of YAF, said his outfit intended to create an enabling environment to allow members to go into commercial farming to help generate funds to sponsor development projects of the church.
