Progressive Peoples Party donates to orphanage

The Central Regional Secretariat of Progressive Peoples Party (PPP) on the eve of Christmas, presented food items worth GH?3,000.00 to the Village of Hope Orphanage at Gomoa Fetteh in the Gomoa East District.

The items include bags of rice, gallons of cooking oil, 25 packets of toilets rolls ,three boxes of biscuits, quantities of pineapples, oranges and packets of cowbell coffee drink.

Mr Cephas Antwi, Regional Chairman of the Party who made the donation said it was meant to put smile on the faces of under privileged children at the orphanage during the yuletide.

He said these “children through no fault of theirs have found themselves in an orphanage and would need assistance from individuals and corporate bodies to survive”.

Mr Antwi called on the political parties, public- spirited organisations and individuals to use their little resources at their disposal to help the vulnerable in the society.

Mr Kweku Sarkordie, Director of Village of Hope expressed appreciation to the members of the PPP for their kind gesture and asked others to emulate their shining example.

He said the PPP is the first political party to donate to the orphanage.

Mr Sarkordie, said the orphanage has 200 children, with 41 in school, compelling the facility to pay GH?8,000.00 every term as school fees.

He said GH?48,000.00 is paid every semester for those at the polytechnics and universities, bringing financial burden on the management of the village.

Mr Sarkordie therefore appealed to the non-governmental organisations, government and other bodies to come to the aid of the orphanage.
